My experience here was very fast, efficient and friendly!

I've lived in big cities my whole life and the DMV's and drivers license places there are HORRENDOUS! This particular location has been incredibly helpful. There's no long lines in order to get a number just to wait again, the total wait time I experienced here was about 30 minutes. I'm used to 2 hours. The people were friendly and really worked with me.

I am transferring from N.C and hold a CDL. First trip to see about transferring was interesting to say the least. They required so much identity and residency paperwork it was confusing, redundant and time consuming. Then due to some scandal about the selling of CDL's, "The indictment caps a five-year investigation into allegations that, among other illegal actions, workers under Ryan and while he was Illinois secretary of state, sold CDLs for money that was then used in his campaign for governor.", OK so now every person who has one and decides to live in IL has to RE TEST ON EVERYTHING.. I had an active Illinois vehicle license which they took, said I should have the IL CDL and can drive on the N.C one while testing. Each time I went to take a part of the test they required all the paperwork again!!!! REALLY!!!.. I finally get this finished and view the testing area. small and confined. I encountered an older CDL testing lady who was very nice and helpful, and another younger tester who was also very nice and pleasant during my skills test. However they have it set up so that unless you have mirrors on the front of your bus, you are guessing as to where to stop on the pull forward and make the bumper land in the green area which is 12 inches wide. Now due to no issue of the DMV's but my work, and the bus breaking down, I had 8 apts to take my test, then the year was up.. Bus Finally fixed from last September breaking down and NEW RULES FOR THE DAMN TEST.. now we have to parallel park the bus.. HELLO the handbook states do not even back the bus if possible, and yet we need to know how to parallel part the damn thing... frustrated, as I had zero problems doing the skills and driving to get my CDL the first time (yep had mirrors on the bus but could be sensible and look.. ps. the questions are very tricky, they have several answers that can be correct but are looking for the first mention of it especially about LOL backing up.. dont back up. .. anyway here we go again. Illinois has the most ridiculous rules for not allowing a simple transfer without retesting the entire license and with its own set of rules all based on its corrupt govt, do they even realize how this can affect workers who are Drivers and want to live in their state. oh well.. no the DMV's fault, wait times are avg for a small city. People mostly knowledgeable, had a different answer a couple of times, some of the workers there are RUDE, hello, you are in the customer service business, be helpful and pleasant, we get frustrated enough with all the requirements and waiting.. CDL ladies awesome.

I've been coming here since 2008 for CDL issues, titling and registration of both commercial and personal vehicles and even a stolen identity problem where a woman got her face put on my wife's license and used it to take $11k out of our account, and have always received prompt, friendly and courteous service. Maybe it's because I spent 10 years in the Chicago area and 15 years in the Orlando area where people start lining up two hours before the DL office opens like it's a rock concert, but I never worry about having to pay a visit to this office. I think the longest I've had to wait to be helped at this office is thirty minutes or so and usually it's only five or ten minutes, or no wait at all. As others have already stated in their reviews, customers addressing CDL issues bypass the "take a number" line, but I only use that if I'm there for a CDL issue. Even doing the old take a number and wait routine, the wait time is still reasonable everytime I'm there.

Everyone here is completely rude unless you drive a brand new car and have lump sums of money! Go to Carbondale everyone tries to help you find ways to get what you have come for. If I could put no stars I would the place is useless!

I might not always agree with all the policies there, but that's not set at the local level and my gripe would be with the folks in Springfield. The people leaving bad reviews for this particular office really need to alter their ratings because the folks at the DMV / Sec of State are just following the policies set by the big wigs in Springfield.
