Normally I love this place. And have met and hung out with the owner before. But last night he said he was a cubs fan so I said oh so you're from a generally affluent area of Chicago. And he proceeded to berate me about how he grew up hard. Now my wife never wants to go back.
Even in a town where a great beer selection was commonplace, John Brown's would stand out. In Marion where that's definitely not the case, it becomes an oasis for craft beer lovers.
Great little bar that makes a Chicago native feel like they're back home at their neighborhood bar. Awesome selection of beers; knowledgeable, friendly bartenders & live entertainment every Friday night. 1 Saturday a month during the summer John Brown's host "Grill's Night Out." Bring your grill & some grub to cook or just your appetite. Everyone shares whatever they're cooking that night & you'll be amazed at the types of food that can be deliciously grilled.
Love, love, love John Browns! I have visited this bar many times in the last 5 years, however now that I am in Marion 4 days a week, I find myself here more often! Great bartenders who are always attentive even on the busiest of Saturday nights! The owner, John Brown (ha!) even has his own brew of beer! If your in the area and looking for a place to stop for a cold one, this is it!
Original music. Good people in the crowd. Good beer on tap. Cool Little place, good sound, you name it. Check it out.
I will give a heads up on one little item, they don't serve food. However, the local pizza place, Walt's, will deliver to JB's! Walt's is a local favorite and justifiably so.
